11th September 2019, Kuala Lumpur - Pernod Ricard Malaysia is proud to announce that The ‘King of Whisky’ Royal Salute has debuted two new whiskies and an all new look with a major packaging change showcasing a contemporary take on its rich history with a colourful, enchanting depiction of the British Royal Menagerie that pays tribute to the brand’s royal heritage.
Royal Salute unveiled its new brand imagery and exceptional Scotch whiskies to members of the media, whisky connoisseurs and Royal Salute’s enthusiasts in Malaysia, at an intimate three-course Scotch pairing gala dinner hosted by Royal Salute ambassador, His Grace, Torquhil Ian Campbell, 13th Duke of Argyll, and special guest, Royal Salute Global VIP Relationship Director Peter Prentice. Held at The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur, the intimate dinner was an exclusive opportunity for guests to discover Royal Salute’s world of wonder and enchantment.
Royal Salute’s new look is created in collaboration with esteemed fine artist Kristjana S. Williams. The box housing the precious flagon depicts Royal Salute’s rich heritage through a striking depiction of the British Royal Menagerie at the Tower of London. The illustration is part of a complete transformation for Royal Salute and a visual embodiment of the enchanting and wondrous new direction the Scotch whisky is taking.
To celebrate, Royal Salute has added two new whiskies to the permanent core collection.
The Malts Blend is the first blended malt from Royal Salute and has been crafted with more than 21 precious single malts and aged for a minimum of 21 years from the five whisky regions of Scotland. Working in harmony, each of the flavours combine to create a symphonic-like performance for the senses. The result is an indulgent and profound Scotch whisky bursting with notes of orchard fruits and enriched by subtle spices.
Also available exclusively in Duty Free stores in international airports around the world is The Lost Blend. The Lost Blend is the first peated whisky for Royal Salute. It is an exceptional new blend meticulously crafted from the finest and scarce aged whiskies from Scotland’s ‘lost’ distilleries that are no longer in production. Imparting notes of sweet oranges and peaches intermingled with smouldering bonfire embers, The Lost Blend balances the taste of sweet, juicy pears, orange rind and hazelnuts with aromatic peat for a long, smooth and smoky finish.
These elegant blends are each housed in beautifully crafted porcelain flagons, glazed in individual hues inspired by the precious stones set within the Imperial State Crown: a sapphire flagon for The Signature Blend, an emerald flagon for The Malts Blend and an obsidian flagon for The Lost Blend.
Just like The Signature Blend, The Malts Blend and The Lost Blend have been expertly crafted by Royal Salute Master Blender, Sandy Hyslop. The two new creations join the ‘King of Whisky’s’ flagship whisky, The Signature Blend, which was first created in 1953 as a gift for the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II.
Royal Salute Master Blender, Sandy Hyslop, said of the news: “Royal Salute is the pinnacle of exceptionally aged Scotch whisky, starting where others end at 21 years. The Malts Blend and The Lost Blend join our Signature Blend to bring even more choice for discerning whisky aficionados looking for an outstanding whisky experience.
“As Master Blender for Royal Salute, there is no greater honour than protecting the continuity of the blend that was first created in 1953 and has remained exceptional ever since. But to be able to create something entirely new for this sensational portfolio - elevated Scotch whiskies evoking the signature Royal Salute style but with their own unique characteristics - that’s truly something special.”
Pernod Ricard Malaysia Managing Director, Sebastien Mouquet, added: “On behalf of Pernod Ricard Malaysia, I am excited to share the news of Royal Salute’s dramatic new direction that reinforces the brand’s standing as the ideal choice for the contemporary whisky drinker. The addition of The Malts Blend and The Lost Blend to the Royal Salute family is a testament to the brand’s efforts to ensure it is at the cutting-edge of Scotch whisky innovation. We are thrilled to unveil to whisky connoisseurs here in Malaysia.”
Royal Salute Ambassador, Torquhil Ian Campbell, 13th Duke of Argyll, commented: “Royal Salute's all new packaging is a contemporary take on the brand's rich heritage and it is unlike anything we've seen from a Scotch whisky brand. It is really exciting times for Royal Salute, the new packaging and the two wonderful new blends reinforce what makes Royal Salute the 'King of Whisky' in every way and why it is fit for modern royalty.”
The Royal Salute Signature Blend and Malts Blend are available from select luxury whisky retailers, while The Lost Blend is available exclusively in Duty Free stores in international airports around the world.
