23rd September 2019, Kuala Lumpur – Buon Appetito! Traders Hotel Kuala Lumpur is currently hosting a week of "Italian Week" starting from 23 September to 28 September. Italian Chef Daniele Devillanova is hailing from the Puglia region in Southern Italy renowned for its seafood, abundance of good quality olive oil, wines and seasonal fresh ingredients. He is currently Chef de Cuisine of Waterfall Ristorante Italiano, Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore. He is currently at Gobo Upstairs Lounge & Grill to showcase some of his signature dishes and presenting an Italian Gourmet experience.
Chef Daniele’s approach to Italian cuisine is gastronomic, by holding true to Italian way of cooking, by highlighting the quality of the ingredients and with lots of the authentic passion. He brought his recipes all the way from his homeland by presenting dishes from the finest ingredients, bringing the taste of Italy in exquisite presentations right to the diner’s plates. Chef Daniele will serve different set menus, 2 exclusive wine dinners and an ala carte menu.
The IMBA set menu at the first day was served with the welcome drink, A glass of Prosecco. Followed by the starter - home made semola friselle bread, DOP burrata, sweet tomatoes and basil. The pasta was orecchiette pasta in anchovies and fresh tomato base, chilly, broccoli mash, grilled mackerel fish.
There were 2 options for main course - Salted cod and sweet prawns in light Italian butter, saffron polenta, trikalinos bottarga shaving; OR the braised lamb shank in nero d’ avola wine, coffee scents, smoked mashed potatoes, roasted pumpkin. Last but not least, the dessert was home made cannolo siciliano, ricotta cheese, orange zest, chocolate chips, coffee English cream and The Chef's special.
